River ramp requires repairs

October 22, 2004

HANCOCK ? Damage caused by two recent storms has prompted C&O National Historical Park officials to close the boat ramp to the Potomac River at Little Tonoloway Creek until repairs can be made, according to Bill Justice, acting deputy superintendent.

An orange vinyl barrier was erected recently at the site one block south of Main Street, Justice said. A sign on the fence indicates the ramp is closed because of unsafe conditions.

Justice said the second and more serious of the storms was in late September. High water actually flipped some concrete over on the ramp, he said.
