Boonsboro Warriors (2-5) at Brunswick Railroaders (3-4)

Series: Boonsboro leads, 22-13.

Last meeting: 2003 - Brunswick, 21-7.

Last week: The Warriors defeated Clear Spring, 52-0. ... The Railroaders lost to Smithsburg, 49-33.

Notes: The Warriors have won two straight after an 0-5 start. ... The Railroaders, a longshot to make the postseason, have lost two straight and cannot lose another game if they are to earn a Class 1A West playoff spot. ... Warriors RB James Barnes scored four TDs on just nine carries against Clear Spring. ... After back-to-back shutouts, the Railroaders have surrendered 96 points over the last two weeks. ... Railroaders RB Eric Zwilsky surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark last week.

No. 4 Smithsburg Leopards (7-0) at No. 6 South Hagerstown Rebels (5-2)

Notes: The Cadets lost for the first time in 10 games last week, dropping them from the No. 1 spot in The Herald-Mail Super 7. ... Cadets QB Cory Rhodes threw for 243 yards. ... Liberty QB Matt Anuszewski was 22 of 43 for 276 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs in the loss to North Carroll.

No. 5 Jefferson Cougars (5-3) at Hedgesville Eagles (1-7)

Series: Hedgesville leads, 11-9.

Last meeting: 2003 - Jefferson, 27-14 (game was later forfeited to Hedgesville due to Jefferson's use of an ineligible player).

Last week: The Cougars lost to Martinsburg, 35-21. ... The Eagles lost to Musselman, 33-0.

Notes: The home team has won the last six meetings in the series. ... The Cougars lost their second straight game and fell to 1-3 in the CVAL with the loss to Martinsburg. ... The Cougars are still in good position to earn their first playoff berth since 1992. They are currently 12th in the W.Va. Class AAA ratings and would likely clinch a spot by beating the Eagles and Waynesboro. ... Last week was the first time the Eagles have been shut out by Musselman since 1991.

Century Knights (2-5) at Middletown Knights (3-4)

Last week: Century lost to South Carroll, 14-0. ... Middletown lost to Thomas Johnson, 14-12.

Notes: Century was held to 35 rushing yards and 102 yards total offense by South Carroll. ... Middletown lost to Thomas Johnson for the first time since 2000. ... Middletown missed an opportunity to take the lead against TJ when the Patriots punter kicked a blocked punt out of the end zone for a safety, not allowing Middletown to cover it for a touchdown.

North Carroll Panthers (3-4) at Thomas Johnson Patriots (2-5)

Series: Thomas Johnson leads, 16-1.

Last meeting: 2003 - North Carroll, 14-6.

Last week: The Panthers defeated Liberty, 30-28. ... The Patriots defeated Middletown, 14-12.

Notes: The Panthers scored 24 unanswered points on the way to its win over Liberty. ... Tom Mitchell ran for 103 yards and a TD. ... Brad Betson threw for a TD and ran for another in the Patriots' win over Middletown. ... The Patriots snapped a three-game losing streak last week against Middletown.

South Carroll Cavaliers (2-5) at Walkersville Lions (3-4)

Series: South Carroll leads, 2-0.

Last meeting: 2003 - South Carroll, 48-14 (2A West semifinal)

Last week: The Cavaliers defeated Century, 14-0. ... The Lions lost to FSK, 50-0.

Notes: South Carroll RB Eric Bell had 2 interception returns for TDs along with 100 yards rushing against Century. ... The Lions' loss last week was their largest margin of defeat since before 1983. ... The Cavaliers beat the Lions twice last year - once in the regular season and once in the playoffs.

Fort Hill Sentinels (7-0) at No. 1 Martinsburg Bulldogs (7-1)

When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: Fort Hill leads, 46-17-3.

Last meeting: 2003 - Martinsburg, 41-2.

Last week: The Sentinels defeated Hampshire, 42-14. ... The Bulldogs defeated Jefferson, 35-21.

Notes: The Bulldogs have won the last three meetings and five of the last six. ... The winner of this game has won the Cumberland Valley Athletic League each of the last four seasons. ... The Bulldogs have not lost a CVAL game since losing to Fort Hill on Oct. 27, 2000. They have lost just two regular season games since then.
