Veterans Day ceremony planned

Morris Frock Unit No. 42, American Legion Auxiliary, will sponsor a Veterans Day ceremony in front of the Washington County Courthouse on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m.

At the ceremony, representatives from service organizations and local officials will lay wreaths in honor and memory of veterans.

Douglas Tait, a Vietnam veteran who served for 26 years as a helicopter pilot and reconnaissance pilot, will be the guest speaker. He is a test pilot for Northrop Grumman.

The Mason Dixon Barbershop Chorus and trumpeters Melissa Lloyd and Bryant Hendrickson of North Hagerstown High School will perform.

Unit members leading the program will be Dorothy Smith, chaplain of Morris Frock Unit No. 42, American Legion Auxiliary, and Linda Reid, first vice president.

East Washington Street will be closed from 11 a.m. to noon in front of the courthouse because of the observance.

Greens show slated at Women's Club

Crossroads Garden Club will hold its annual greens show at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Women's Club, 31 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown.


Robert Morgan Jr. of Design Concepts will design arrangements for the fall and Christmas seasons.

A tea will follow the show.

Tickets cost $10 and may be obtained by calling the Women's Club at 301-739-0870 or by stopping by the club between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
