City police crime report

The Hagerstown Police Department has responded to the following calls since Wednesday, according to Sgt. Curt Wood:

Today:

· At 12:50 a.m., a burglary was reported in the 600 block of Adams Avenue in Hagerstown's South End.

On Wednesday:

· At 12:27 a.m., domestic violence was reported in the 1400 block of Haven Road in Hagerstown's North End.

· At 9:20 a.m., damage to a motor vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of Virginia Avenue in Hagers-town's South End.

· At 4:18 p.m., a blue 1996 GMC truck was reported stolen from the first block of Charles Street in the downtown Hagerstown area. The vehicle had Maryland registration 80G843.

· At 4:45 p.m., domestic violence was reported in the 200 block of Summit Avenue in downtown Hagerstown.

· At 8:48 p.m., domestic violence was reported in the 900 block of Salem Avenue in Hagerstown's West End.

· At 8:54 p.m., domestic violence was reported in the in the first block of West Antietam Street in downtown Hagerstown.

· At 11:30 p.m., domestic violence was reported in the 600 block of Adams Avenue Hagerstown's South End.

Attic fire damages Smithsburg home


Firefighters were investigating the cause of an attic fire Wednesday afternoon in a home on Comanche Drive in Smithsburg.

Firefighters from several Washington County units as well as from Franklin County, Pa., responded to the fire, according to Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Ron Jeter.

Jeter said no one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. He added that it was a small fire, but that more investigation was needed to determine the cause. He had no damage estimate.

City man charged in road incident


A Hagerstown man has been charged in a road rage incident that took place on Interstate 70 on Oct. 3, Maryland State Police in Hagerstown said in a written statement on Wednesday.

Police are not releasing the man's name, but they said they charged him with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and several traffic offenses.

Police said the driver of a black Honda Accord pointed a handgun at the driver of a red Corvette on westbound I-70 in Washington County.

Police had asked that the driver of the red Corvette, who they said was the victim in the incident, contact investigators. Police said Wednesday that they have identified the victim.

The Frederick Police Department is seeking the public's help


The Frederick Police Department is seeking the public's help in finding three men who tried to rob another man Wednesday night on Patrick Street in downtown Frederick.

The Frederick Police Department said in a written release that at about 8 p.m., three men, one who had a knife, approached a 20-year-old man in the 200 block of West Patrick Street in downtown Frederick.

The man with the knife told the victim to "freeze," at which time the victim ran off. The group of men then chased the victim until the victim reached a residence and began to call for help, police said in a release. The three attempted robbers then fled to a dark colored Dodge Caravan and drove away from the area, police said. There were no injuries as a result of this incident, police said.
