Pa. bar association offers will seminar

October 18, 2004

SCOTLAND, Pa. - The Franklin County Bar Association will offer a free program on wills, living trusts and the probate process Tuesday at District Justice Larry Meminger's office on Garver Lane.

"The Truth About Wills, Living Trusts and Avoiding Probate" is a 90-minute program that will be presented at 1:30 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. The program will highlight the need for a will - the most basic of estate plans - and discuss other methods of preserving assets, such as living trusts and annuities.

Attorneys Richard Hoskinson, LeRoy Maxwell Jr. and Forest Myers also will focus on misinformation about the probate process. Numerous companies prey on people's fears about the taxes and fees their loved ones will owe, the three said, selling them high-priced living trusts that often are unnecessary and, sometimes, not even valid in Pennsylvania.

To register or for more information, call the bar association at 717-267-2032 or send e-mail to info@franklinbar.org.
