October 17, 2004

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A person driving a pickup truck north on Interstate 81 died after the vehicle crashed Saturday morning, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The name of the driver was not released because family members had not been contacted.

Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner, who pronounced the driver dead at 3:26 a.m., said Saturday night that he would not release the person's identity until after 6 a.m. today.

Police said the person was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger that went off the road around mile marker 3, south of Greencastle, at about 2:31 a.m.

The truck went into the median, rolled several times, crossed into the southbound lanes, hit a guardrail on the west berm and stopped facing southwest in the merge lane of I-81 south, police said.
