No. 3 North Hagerstown Hubs (5-1) at Catoctin Cougars (1-5)

Series: North Hagerstown leads, 9-6.

Last meeting: 2003 - North Hagerstown, 26-21.

Last week: The Hubs defeated Brunswick, 47-0. ... The Cougars lost to Boonsboro, 28-20.

Notes: The home team has won the last three games in the series. ... The Hubs have shut out their last three opponents. They have not allowed a score since the fourth quarter of their loss to Frederick. ... Hubs QB Robbie Thompson set single-season (14) and career (20) passing TD marks with two TD throws against Brunswick. ... WR Quielan Gantt is now third on the Hubs' career receptions (48) and career yards (790) lists.




Boonsboro Warriors (1-5) at Clear Spring Blazers (0-6)

Last week: The Warriors defeated Catoctin, 28-20. ... The Blazers lost to South Hagerstown, 59-6.

Notes: The Warriors ended a six-game losing streak with their victory over Catoctin. ... The Warriors have scored 20 points or more in four of their six games, but have just one win to show for it. ... The Blazers are surrendering nearly 56 points per game.




Williamsport Wildcats (0-6) at South Hagerstown Rebels (4-2)

Last week: The Wildcats lost to Smithsburg, 53-0. ... The Rebels defeated Clear Spring, 59-6.

Notes: The Rebels have won the last four games in the series, all by shutout. ... The Rebels have won their last three games after a 1-2 start. ... The Wildcats have not scored in 18 straight quarters. They are allowing opponents more than 42 points per game. ... Despite winning last week, the Rebels dropped to fifth in the Class 2A West playoff standings. The top four teams in each region advance to the postseason.




No. 4 Smithsburg Leopards (6-0) at Brunswick Railroaders (3-3)

Series: Smithsburg leads, 17-9.

Last meeting: 2003 - Smithsburg, 39-14.

Last week: The Leopards defeated Williamsport, 53-0. ... The Railroaders lost to North Hagerstown, 47-0.

Notes: The Leopards' win over Brunswick last season snapped a six-game skid against the Railroaders. ... The Leopards have won seven straight regular-season games. ... The Railroaders' 47-point loss to North Hagerstown was their worst defeat since 1994 (Boonsboro, 47-0).




Maret Frogs (0-6) at St. John's at Prospect Hall Vikings (3-3)

Last week: The Frogs lost to Potomac School, 14-6. ... The vikings defeated Baltimore Lutheran, 46-13.

Notes: Vikings QB Keith Ricca is simply adding to his state career passing records now, throwing for 291 yards and 6 TDs against Baltimore Lutheran. ... The Vikings ran 35 offensive plays against Baltimore Lutheran - 33 passes and two runs, both by Ricca.




Thomas Johnson Patriots (1-5) at Middletown Knights (3-3)

Series: Middletown leads, 9-7.

Last meeting: 2003 - Middletown, 23-7.

Last week: The Patriots lost to Liberty 21-14. ... The Knights defeated South Carroll, 38-6.

Notes: The Knights have won the last three games and five of the last six in the series. ... The Patriots have yet to win a game in the MVAL Chesapeake Conference (0-9). ... The Knights rolled up 246 yards rushing last week, including 137 by Wes Leatherman.




Chambersburg Trojans (2-4) at State College Little Lions (3-3)

Last week: The Trojans lost to Carlisle, 49-14. ... The Little Lions defeated Erie Cathedral Prep, 28-10.

Notes: The Trojans have lost two straight after winning their previous two games. ... QB Clay Cummings threw for 194 yards in the loss to Carlisle, 105 of them going to RB Tyler Perry.




Hedgesville Eagles (1-6) at Musselman Applemen (2-4)

When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: Musselman leads, 22-12.

Last meeting: 2003 - Hedgesville, 33-13.

Last week: The Eagles lost to John Marshall, 54-25. ... The Applemen lost to Keyser, 23-21.

Notes: The Eagles surrendered 528 total yards and 7 TD passes against John Marshall. ... The Eagles led 10-7 in the first quarter. ... RB Rocky Lane ran for 2 TDs. ... The Applemen took the lead with just over 2 minutes remaining against Keyser on a 66-yard TD run by D.J. Stephenson, but gave it right back on the ensuing kickoff. ... All three Musselman scores last week covered 40 yards or more.




No. 2 Martinsburg Bulldogs (6-1) at No. 5 Jefferson Cougars (5-2)

Series: Martinsburg leads, 18-11.

Last week: The Bulldogs defeated Bassett, Va., 37-19. ... The cougars lost to Fort Hill, 28-7.

Notes: The Bulldogs have won the last five games in the series. ... The 63-point loss last season was the largest margin of defeat in Jefferson history. ... Bulldogs QB Nate Sowers threw four TD passes and caught another against Bassett. ... Bassett ran for 276 yards against the Bulldogs. ...
