Knitting workshop set for Oct. 22, 23

FUNKSTOWN - Y2Knit is bringing its nationally celebrated knitting workshop style to the Washington County area Friday, Oct. 22, and Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Six workshops with topics ranging from basic slip stitches to techniques for great fit will be held at Funkstown Town Hall, two doors down from the Y2Knit store.

Knitters may sign up for individual workshops at a cost of $25 each, by each day at three workshop for $70 or for both days - all six workshops - for $130.

Knitting sisters Susan and Jill Wolcott have been holding knitting getaways across the country since 2001. During July 2003, they expanded their creative knitting business venture, Y2Knit, opening a store on East Baltimore Street in Funkstown with a wide array of knitting supplies, and personalized knitting and crocheting classes.

Experienced knitters and those who are just getting started have had the option of spending three or five days in knitting workshops, yoga classes and more.

Susan Wolcott, who manages the Y2Knit store, is the author of a workbook/journal on knitting.

Jill Wolcott, the creative director of Y2Knit, is a fashion design and merchandising instructor in San Francisco. She will be in Funkstown Oct. 22 and 23 to host the workshops.
