WVU Extension hosting estate planning workshops

October 05, 2004

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Workshops on estate planning are being offered Oct. 12 and Nov. 16 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the WVU Extension Office in Jefferson County, W.Va.

Extension Agent Craig Yohn said Dan Norris of Chesapeake Financial Group made a similar presentation to owners of about 10 farms this past spring and has met with most of them since.

"As land values go up and the average age of the farm community increases, taking proper steps to plan what happens to your estate is important," Yohn said.

He said the same program will be given at each workshop. Speakers include: Jack Quinn, of the Jefferson County Farmland Protection Board; Mike Caryl, an estate planning attorney from Martinsburg, W.Va.; and Norris.
