Area roundup - Rams' Atwood honored

Shepherd University linebacker Demar Atwood and Glenville State linebacker Jacquez Taylor were named the WVIAC Defensive Players of the Week on Sunday.

Atwood had 18 tackles, including eight solo stops and three tackles for loss, two of which were sacks, in the Rams' 34-0 win Saturday over West Virginia State.

Taylor had 16 tackles and returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown in the Pioneers' 42-16 win over WVU Tech.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Nick Benavides had a hat trick and assisted on Trent Reid's goal to lead Martinsburg past Elkins (7-7-1) on Saturday.

THREE SPRINGS, Pa. - Sarah Signore had two goals and Bindy Boyer scored one to lead Greencastle to its first win of the season Saturday.

Lindsey Oliver and Mandy Christman each an assist for the Blue Devils (1-10).

Schultz misses in CPC


VERONA, N.Y. - Black Rock Golf Club professional Dirk Schultz missed out on his bid to qualify for the PGA Club Professional Championship with a 3-over-par 75 at the Atunyote Golf Resort in the final round of the Eastern Region CPC.

Schultz' four-round total of 8-over-par 295 did not leave him in the top 32.
