Eight area businesspeople participated in a Web design curriculum development panel at Hagerstown Community College on Friday, Sept. 24.

The college asked the executives to assist in a curriculum review process called DACUM (Develop a Curriculum).

During the session, called a Tech Scan, panel members were asked to identify careers in the Web design and development field, along with educational requirements and availability of jobs. Members also described skills that prospective employees should possess, and discussed developing trends in the Web design field.

Participants were David Hall and David Henneberger from DH Web, Inc.; Mary Lee Herrmann, a local Web design independent consultant; Vince Hellane from D'Vinci Interactive; Beverly Bricker from Enforme Interactive, Inc.; Sean Maher from Washington County Health System; Rich Daughtridge from Mid Atlantic System Integrators, Inc.; and Derrick Miller from Axis 80 Interactive.

Future sessions will focus on specific duties of employees, and integrating those duties into a design for a Web design and development curriculum.
