CSL basketball sign-ups


The CSL basketball league will be hold registration for the 2004-05 season Sunday at the Fort Ritchie Gymnasium from from 5 to 7 p.m.

The CSL has a middle school league for boys and girls in grades 6-8, elementary league for boys and girls in grades 4-5 and an instructional league for boys and girls in grades 2-3.

The middle school and elementary leagues have separate divisions for boys and girls and each plays several times per week with a registration fee of $60. The instructional league features co-ed teams that play one night per week with a registration fee of $30.

Middle school players who want to try out for a traveling team may do so at designated times. There will be an additional fee for those players.

North alumni soccer games


The North Hagerstown boys soccer program will celebrate its 30th anniversary with alumni games Saturday at 3 p.m. at the school. All former North players are invited to particpate. Cost is $10 and a dinner sponsored by Outback Steakhouse follows at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Pete Grunberg at 301-573-4629.

CATONSVILLE, Md. - Shawn Beyard had a goal and Shawn Hunt had 15 saves for HCC in the Hawks' loss to Catonsville.

Shepherd 2, Pitt-Johnstown 0


SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Jamie Ritchie scored a pair of goals to lead Shepherd. Robert Pence recorded the shutout in goal for the Rams (4-3-3).




WOMEN'S SOCCER



Shepherd 3, Southern Virginia 1


BUENA VISTA, Va. - Erin Wilkinson, Jamie Barthelemy and Katie Moore each scored for Shepherd as the Rams beat Southern Virginia.

Lauren Kinnear, Maria Brown and Courtney McCauley each had an assist for the Rams (4-4), while Amy Bell had eight saves in goal.
