Pa. man killed in U.S. 522 crash in Fulton County

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A 44-year-old Warfordsburg, Pa., man was killed and the driver was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 522 south of McConnellsburg early Thursday, Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said.

Curtis Wayne Hixon of Box 720 was pronounced dead at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg.

He was a passenger in a 1989 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Robert Dale Hixon, 63, of 1845 Lehman Road, Warfordsburg.

Robert Dale Hixon was flown to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center where his condition was listed as critical Thursday night.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 1993 Ford Econoline van, was Seth Andrew Elliott, 20, of 4404 Breezy Point Road, McConnellsburg. Elliott had minor injuries, police said.

According to the police report, Elliott was southbound on U.S. 522 and Robert Dale Hixon was driving north when the vehicles collided head-on.

Elliott was wearing a seat belt. Police said it is not known if the Hixons were wearing seat belts.

The crash, which occurred three-quarters of a mile north of Pa. 928 at around 6:30 a.m., was under investigation, police said.
