Commissioners post agenda information on Web site

September 28, 2004

Residents interested in attending Washington County Commissioners meetings may read ahead of time about the items to be discussed at the meetings.

The county this month began posting detailed information about open session agenda topics and reports on its Web site at www.washco-md.net.

Residents can click on links to download the information, according to a written statement from Washington County.

For example, the County Commissioners are expected to discuss a report today on replacing the county's public safety radio system. Interested residents can go to the Web site, find the meeting agenda and download the consultant's recommendations on the radio system and view a presentation that is expected to take place at the meeting, according to the written statement.

"This is another step towards providing the public with more in-depth information on issues of importance in Washington County," County Administrator Rodney Shoop said in the statement.

Shoop said the county hopes the new Web feature will help residents understand county issues and encourage them to attend meetings of the commissioners.
