Teenage girls reported being sexually assaulted on their way to school in two separate incidents Monday morning, according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.

Police said the first incident occurred in an alley near the 800 block of Park Lane. Police said two girls, ages 14 and 15, were walking at about 8 a.m. when they were approached by a man who grabbed the chest of one of them.

The man ran toward Pennsylvania Avenue after fondling the girl, police said.

The second incident occurred 30 minutes later in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. In that incident, two girls, ages 14 and 16, were approached by a man who grabbed the chest of one of the girls and ran, police said.

Detective Shawn Schultz described the assailant in both incidents as a white man, about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 150 to 175 pounds with dirty blond hair. The man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black boots, police said.

Schultz the incidents do not match any reported to the department recently.

"This is the first one we've had around here in quite a while," he said.

Schultz said the four girls spoke separately with police. He said the composite sketches drawn based on their descriptions of the man were "almost identical."

Police ask that anyone with information on the incident call police at 301-790-3700.
