Camp hope features workshops

September 22, 2004

On Sept. 25, Breast Cancer Awareness of Cumberland Valley is inviting all breast cancer survivors to attend Camp Hope from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Western Maryland Hospital Center on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The free events include a knitting workshop by Susan Wolcott of Y2Knit Shop in Funkstown, other fall craft workshops, speakers and a lunch.

Pre-registration for the camp, which is held twice a year, is necessary no later than Wednesday, Sept. 22, by calling 301-791-5843.

A former registered nurse, Wolcott will share her love and knowledge of knitting, along with the restorative benefits of the craft. She and her sister, Jill Wolcott, have each designed knitting patterns for caps especially for use by cancer patients experiencing hair loss due to treatments.

They donate $2 from the local sale of each cap pattern and kit to Breast Cancer Awareness of Cumberland Valley.
