Roundup - Goretti turns back Musselman, 5-1

Joe Spierenburg had a goal and two assists to lead St. Maria Goretti to a 5-1 Apple Valley League victory over Musselman on Tuesday.

Colin Lam, Robert Nelson, Johnny Widmyer and Matt Cotler each added a goal for the Gaels (5-5, 2-2), while Kevin Brashears recorded 13 saves in goal.

John Brown scored the only the goal for the Applemen (3-8, 0-4), while Geoff Miller had 11 saves.

Trinity 1 No. 1 Greencastle 0


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Josh Mull scored in the second minute of the second half as Trinity handed Greencastle its first loss of the season.

Steve Sprague had four saves for Greencastle (6-1, 4-1) in the Mid-Penn Capital loss.

No. 6 TJ 1, Hammond 1


FREDERICK, Md. - After Thomas Johnson's John Freed scored on an assist from Mike Thomas in the 33rd minute, Hammond's Steve Amus scored unassisted four minutes later and the game resulted in a tie.

Charles Nicholas had 13 saves for Hammond. Tim Mehl had six for the Patriots (3-2-1).

Shalom 3, Grace 2


Steven Wilson and Jordan Hanft each scored for Grace Academy, but the Knights fell to Shalom Christian for their first MDCC loss.

Danny Michael and A.J. Serafini had assists and Andy Eyler recorded 10 saves for Grace (6-2, 6-1).

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Waynesboro was held to four shots on goal and no corner kicks in a Mid-Penn Colonial loss to Northern.

Chris Taber had 12 saves for the Indians (2-3, 2-3).

GLENELG, Md. - Megan Shefler had two goals to lead Middletown to a victory on Monday.

Ali Keeney assisted Shefler's first goal for the Knights (3-2).

No. 10 Mercersburg 3, TSE 0


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Jessie Tippen, Brittany Lattisaw and Natalie Blackburn each scored as Mercersburg blanked TSE to remain undefeated.

Luciana Bolona and Lauren Dobish had the assists for the Blue Storm (4-0).

Century 5, Williamsport 2


SYKESVILLE, Md. - Morggan McGill had a goal and an assist but Williamsport was unable to come back from a 2-0 halftime deficit in a loss to Century.

McGill assisted on Kendal Moss' goal and scored on Erin Moyer's assist.

Katie Vancour had 13 saves for the Wildcats (2-3). Williamsport had five shots on goal.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Jade Dunhour had 18 service points, including 10 aces, to lead Greencastle past Harrisburg 25-7, 25-9, 25-14 to remain unbeaten in Mid-Penn Capital play.

Emily Wissinger had 10 digs and Mandy Menter added seven digs for the Blue Devils (8-1, 5-0).

CAMP HILL, Pa. - Ashleigh Helfrick had 15 digs and nine kills and Jess Snyder had 10 kills to lead James Buchanan to a Mid-Penn Capital victory over Trinity, 25-2, 25-14, 25-7.

Tiff Hunsberger had 15 service points and Erica Helfrick had 20 assists for the Rockets (7-1, 3-1).

FANETTSBURG, Pa. - Candace Bard had 13 kills, 21 digs, seven blocks and 16 service points as Southern Fulton beat Fannett-Metal 21-25, 25-19, 25-23, 20-25, 17-15 in Sideling Hill League action.

Megan Plunkard had nine kills and five blocks for the Indians (3-3, 1-2), while Jessie Wigfield had five kills, 40 digs and eight service points.

McConnellsburg 3, Everett 2


EVERETT, Pa. - Emily Ott had 22 assists to lead McConnellsburg past Everett, 28-26, 25-21, 22-25, 23-25, 15-12 in the Sideling Hill League.

Trisha Seider had six blocks and Cherina Strait had 11 kills for the Spartans (4-2, 2-0).

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Lizz Harvey had 14 service points and Libby Miga had 22 digs to lead Mercersburg Academy in a sweep of St. Maria Goretti, 25-15, 25-20, 25-23.

Cree Riley had seven kills and Jessie Miga had five for the Blue Storm (4-0).

Sarah Crum had 12 digs for Goretti (0-6), while Anna Byers had six blocks and Jessica Myers had six killsfor the Gaels (0-6).

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Caroline Geiger had 10 service points and seven kills to lead Cumberland Valley Christian to a Mason Dixon Christian Conference win over Heritage Academy, 25-15, 25-16, 25-19.

Amber Knuckles had 14 service points and Kristin Serafini had six aces and eight assists as Grace Academy (7-0, 7-0) swept Shalom Christian in MDCC action, 25-10, 25-18, 25-18.

Martinsburg tri-meet


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mercersburg Academy's Brian Moeller finished first with a time of 18 minutes, 45 seconds, but the Blue Storm finished in second place with 47 points.

Jefferson won with 23 points, while Martinsburg had 77.

Anne Spencer and Madi McConnell finished in second and third place for the Mercersburg girls team, which also placed second (48) behind Jefferson (18). Martinsburg had 65.
