Meeting, Oct. 4 to discuss Bester parking problem

September 22, 2004|by SCOTT BUTKI

William Blum, chief operating officer for the Washington County Board of Education, told the school board Tuesday that plans are being developed to address traffic problems at Bester Elementary School's parking lot.

The school system recognizes there is a problem with traffic at that school, Blum said.

The school's Citizens Advisory Committee and the Parent Teacher Association will meet Monday, Oct. 4, at 6 p.m. to talk about the issue, he said.

While parents of Bester students have spoken at past meetings about the traffic issue at Bester, none spoke during the citizens' comments section of Tuesday's meeting.

After the meeting, school system spokeswoman Carol Mowen said employees will at the Oct. 4 meeting give the community an update on a planned 24-space parking lot north of the school.

Two other options are being considered to address the problem but Mowen did not want to say what those are yet, she said.

At the Oct. 4 meeting, parents will be able to give the school system feedback on the situation, she said.
