Roundup - Rebels lose defensive struggle with Spalding

BALTIMORE - Archbishop Spalding got the better of South Hagerstown Monday, beating the Rebels 10-0 in the completion of a defensive struggle that was suspended Friday night.

The Cavaliers (3-0) scored the only touchdown of the game with 52 seconds remaining in the first half, thanks in part to a South penalty.

Spalding drove deep into South territory late in the fourth quarter, but the Rebels defense held and forced a 40-yard field goal.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - Keith Ricca passed for 362 yards and five touchdowns as St. John's at Prospect Hall rolled past Riverdale Baptist.

Max Morris had 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns for the Vikings (2-1), while Randal Smedley had 106 yards receiving and a TD and returned a kickoff 74 yards for another score.

FREDERICK, Md. - Molly Franklin scored three goals as the Titans shut out South.

Rachel Holmes, Natalie Sallvich and Courtney Yee each added a goal for the Knights (5-0), while Chrissy Conrad had two assists and Rachel Micoal and Emily Grant each had one.

FREDERICK, Md. - Tia Scott, Cara Thompson and Whitney Whorton each scored for North Hagerstown (4-2).

Erein Fitsgerald scored and Kate Robinson had 13 saves for Walkersville (1-0-2).

Shannon Fowkes had three goals and an assist for Smithsburg as the Leopards beat St. Maria Goretti.

Shelby Layman added a goal and three assists for the Leopards (2-3). Erin Bergstrom, Chelsea Hoover and Mia Doyle each scored a goal.

BOONSBORO - Rick Tonetti had three goals whie Mark Connelly and Dave Stout each had two goals and an assist for Boonsboro in a rout of Clear Spring.

Tyler McKenrick had two goals and two assists for the Warriors (5-0), while Jake Munson, Dan Tonetti and Eric Fries each had a goal and two assists. Nick Sternerson had a goal and two assists and Keisuke Matsuno had a goal. Evan Lowery recorded the shutout in goal.

Kris Reese made 36 saves for the Blazers (1-5).

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Kenneth Vandre scored on Jake Estine's assist and Dan Orrison scored on Matt Uchino's assist for Middletown (4-2).

Brandon Huggins scored off Jeff Vyidle's assist for Urbana.

UNION BRIDGE, Md. - Sammi Snodderly had 15 kills and 30 digs, Beth Ryan had 12 assists, 18 service points and seven aces and Lacie Johnson had six kills and 14 service points as Williamsport swept FSK, 25-23, 25-21, 25-12.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Jade Dunhour had 21 digs and 13 assists as the Blue Devils beat Shippensburg, 25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 25-11.

Whitney Meyers and Emily Wissinger each had five aces for Greencastle. JV: Greencastle, 25-13, 22-25, 15-6.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Ashleigh Helfrick had 24 digs and four aces in the Rockets' 25-13, 25-17, 25-10 sweep of McConnellsburg.

Erica Helfrick had 25 assists for the Rockets (6-1), while Jess Snyder had 10 kills, Leslie Serrano had nine blocks and Tiffany Hunsberger had 13 service points.

Gretchen Swope had five kills for the Spartans (3-2) and Emily Ott added five kills and 11 assists. JV: James Buchanan, 2-0.

Kaitlin Zimmer had nine kills and four blocks and Ariel Kifer had 32 digs and four aces for North Hagerstown, which was swept by Liberty, 25-20, 25-18, 25-12.

NEW MARKET, Md. - Brittany Hyatt led South to a 25-9, 25-17, 18-25, 25-11 win over Linganore with 26 assists and seven service points.

Chelsea Weaver had 17 service points and six kills for the Rebels (5-0). Caitlin Nicewarner also had six kills.

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Amanda Lewis had eight kills and six aces as the Knights beat Urbana, 25-19, 25-10, 25-17. Kyra Davis added 15 assists for the Knights (2-3).

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Heather Hagelin had nine assists, and two aces as the Cougars beat Brunswick, 25-13, 25-17, 25-21.

Monie Cuddahee added five kills and eight set assists for the Cougars (3-2).

HANCOCK - Jennifer Willison had 15 service points and five aces as the Panthers defeated Jefferson 25-10, 15-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-11 in the Apple Valley League.

Jenna Demory had 10 service points and 15 assists for the Panthers (1-4, 1-2), while Katie Golden had 10 digs and Amber Moats had seven kills. JV: Jefferson, 25-15, 25-6.
