Former hospital employee dies months after being shot

September 21, 2004

A longtime Washington County Hospital emergency room employee died last week in a Baltimore trauma center several months after he was shot.

A University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center spokeswoman confirmed that David Ward Brown, 52, died Wednesday at the facility.

Brown spent several months in critical condition at the trauma center, though his condition was upgraded temporarily to serious condition at one point.

Anne Arundel County Police said Brown sustained two gunshot wounds at Provinces Park, about two miles from his home, on April 7.

Brown previously was employed as an emergency room technician at Washington County Hospital.

Brown's mother, Madge Brown, has said he worked there since 1977 and lived in Hagerstown for nearly a decade before moving east.
