Viola M. Englert, 92

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Viola M. Englert, 92, of 2311 Narrows Road, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at her home.

Born Jan. 11, 1912, in Millstone, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Mary M. Mellott Purnell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman C. Englert, in 1976. They were married in April 1936.

She attended Knobsville (Pa.) United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Hollinshead of Harrisonville, Pa., and Linda Fitzgerald of Sutherland, Va.; four sons, Roy Englert of Pittsburgh, Ross Englert of Suffolk, Va., Ronald Englert of Harrisonville, and Reed Englert of McConnellsburg; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two children; three sisters; three brothers; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Pastor Lyle Mellott will officiate. Burial will be in Knobsville United Methodist Cemetery, Knobsville.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.




Dorothy S. Webster, 85


JULY 13, 1919-SEPT. 17, 2004

WILLIAMSPORT - Dorothy Slocum Webster, 85, of Virginia Avenue, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Homewood Retirement Center.

Born July 13, 1919, in Oakville, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Virgil H. and Florence Bradshaw Slocum.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lt. Edward J. Meehan.

She was a 1936 graduate of Crosby High School in Waterbury, Conn., and a 1938 graduate of Post Business College in Waterbury.

Following World War II, she worked as the secretary to the dean at Teacher's College with the University of Cincinnati.

She was a Protestant, preferring the Congregational Church.

She was a member of several Republican women's clubs, and a member of the Hagerstown Women's Club.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles M. Webster; one daughter, Diane S. Webster of Hagerstown; two nieces; one nephew; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Marian L. Slocum.

A memorial service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sanford Ridge United Methodist Church, Kingsbury, N.Y. The Rev. Arthur Northrup will officiate. Burial immediately will follow the memorial service in Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury, N.Y.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.

BOONSBORO - June Rose Renner, 81, of Reeders Memorial Home, and formerly of 20703 Keadle Road, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 7, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Polly I. Robinson Hoffman and Ralph Vance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester William Renner, in 1991.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Teresa D. Semler of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one son, James A. Renner of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one brother, Allen C. Hoffman of Frederick County, Md.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Butler, Gladys Watson and Thelma Harmon.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Zion Cemetery at San Mar. The Rev. Gene Renner will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.

Helen I. Mackenzie, 81


SEPT. 20, 1922-SEPT. 17, 2004

BOONSBORO - Helen I. Blickenstaff Mackenzie, 81, of Boonsboro, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Towson, Md.

Born Sept. 20, 1922, in Frederick County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Hobart C. and Mae B. Smith Blickenstaff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood H. Mackenzie, in 1997.

She retired as a beautician in Frederick, Md.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville, Md.

She is survived by two sisters, Hazel Bittle of Boonsboro, and Lois Gibson of Hagerstown; three brothers, Herman Blickenstaff of Foxville, Md., Robert Blickenstaff of Florida, and Jack Blickenstaff of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Ragnelli, Virginia Greenhut and Beverly Kendall, and one brother, Donald Blickenstaff.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate.

The family requests the omission of flowers.
