Editor's note - Please be as brief as possible when calling Mail Call, The Daily Mail's reader call-in line.

Mail Call is not staffed on weekends or holidays so it is best to call Mail Call during the week. The Mail Call number is 301-791-6236.

You are welcome to leave a recorded message on any subject, but some calls will be screened out.

Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"It's time for the city to let the hospital move forward. Why is it that every time I read an article about the hospital, it is always about cost, money, money, money? Stop worrying about the cost of building the thing and start worrying about the citizens. Anything ever happens to my mother going out there because of the traffic, I will own the hospital, then I will tear it down and build it back in the city. I am tired of hearing what it will cost to build it. You know, if you build it in the city, you won't have to worry about the cost."

"About the Hagerstown Mason Dixon Barbershop Chorus, they have their annual show Saturday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Hagerstown Community College's Kepler Theater. They are a wonderful group, the harmony is great. They put this show on every year. This is their 50th anniversary. Most of the money goes to charities, except for the money they need for expenses."

"To those people who are inquiring about where the new Republican headquarters is. It's in the 100 block of West Washington Street."

"I served in Vietnam and I am so ashamed to be a Democrat that I will never vote for another Democratic president again."

"About the Bester traffic situation. Instead of the police ticketing parents for blocking intersections, maybe the police should get an explanation from the School Board as to why they never followed through with the 2004 parking lot renovation or as to why they don't provide more transportation for our small children. The School Board is insane to think we would let our children walk to school this day and age. Regardless of the distance from home to school. Not everyone is privileged to be a stay at home parent and walk their children to school every day."

"A suggestion for John Munson: If you want to repair the roads and get the money to do it, hold a bake sale, hold a car wash. The schools do it all the time for the things that the county can't provide for them. Try it some time."

"Why do people think because they live near or close to a farm that it's a dump for all their trash and yard waste? We have a small farm and the new houses near us dump all their trash and garbage into our fields. Why has America become this way?"

"I have a great idea, call the Republican headquarters at 301-739-2118 and go and get lots of Republican posters, stickers and signs and then go home and throw them in the trash. I think we are all better off without them."

"For the person who thinks it's wrong to vote for Bush or Cheney. If I were an Iraqi girl, I would choose no water, no electricity, raw sewage in the street any day over rape, torture, watching my brother or father get their hands cut off. Get it straight, you are wrong and Kerry is certainly wrong."
