Canal Apple Days

Sponsored by the Hancock Lions Club. There will be food and arts and crafts. There will be a dance today at the American Legion, and a parade at 11 a.m. today. Frank Demory with Fossil and Co., George Lee with Stone Cold Country, and Rampage will perform. A classic car show and baby contest also will be held Sunday. Widmeyer Park, Hancock.

Sharpsburg history

Sharpsburg History Days will include lectures, exhibits and history walks throughout the town. Today's activities include:

- 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Information tables at Town Hall. Sign-up sheets for walking tours, tickets for dinner and concert, and flags, brochures, books; Sharpsburg town history exhibit, period Civil War art exhibit. Free.

- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Historic homes, churches and gardens walking tours. Leaves from town square. $5.

- 5 to 6:45 p.m. - Spaghetti dinner, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Main Street. $6.


- 7 p.m. - Slim Harrison and the Sunnyland Band concert, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Main Street. Tickets cost $5, adults; $2.50, ages 12 and younger.

Living history

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Park will present its second annual Civil War Living History weekend. Highlights include South Carolina String Band concert at noon and 5 p.m. today, and noon Sunday, Sept. 19. MSO Pops!

Maryland Symphony Orchestra concert will feature soloists Craig Schulman and Anne Runolfsson. Theme for this year's concert is "Broadway Nights." Today, 8 p.m. The Maryland Theatre, 21 S.
