Vessa J. Bair, 95

APRIL 2, 1909-SEPT. 16, 2004

Vessa Julia Bair, 95, of 19619 Spring Creek Road in Hagerstown, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Ravenwood Assisted Living in Hagerstown.

Born April 2, 1909, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas R. Swain and Sarah C. Showe Swain.

Her husband, Ralph Charles Bair, died in 1984.

She was a graduate of Washington County Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a registered nurse with Washington County Hospital.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Semper Fidelis Sunday school class and Women of the E.L.C.A.


She also was a member of Washington County Hospital Nurses Alumni Association.

She is survived by one daughter, Ann C. Lochbaum of Hagerstown; two grandsons, Mark Lochbaum of Hagerstown, and Steven Lochbaum of St. Cloud, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 141 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Blair L. Plessinger, 80

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Blair Logue Plessinger, 80, of Layton Road, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born Feb. 1, 1924, in Amaranth, Pa., he was the son of the late Ray A. and Ada B. Hurley Plessinger.

He was a 1941 graduate of Warfordsburg High School.

He was a self-employed dairy farmer.

He was a member of Jerusalem Christian Church in Warfordsburg.

He is survived by two sisters, Belva E. Schriever and Fern Plessinger, both of Warfordsburg; one brother, Elmer A. Plessinger of Mercersburg, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Cloyd R. Plessinger.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hancock. Bishop Gerald Hendershot will officiate. Burial will be in Jerusalem Christian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, which will open at 3 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to an organization of one's choice.

Leslie A. Schetrompf Jr., 67

HANCOCK - Leslie A. Schetrompf Jr., 67, of West High Street, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

Born March 9, 1937, in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Leslie A. and Edna Blanche Custer Schetrompf.

He was manager of Hancock Auto Supply in Hancock and Bath Auto Supply in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. He had worked for Hepburn Fruit Market and Douglas Motors in Hancock.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962.

He attended Hancock Assembly of God in Hancock.

He is survived by his wife, Vallie K. Truax Schetrompf, whom he married July 1, 1960, at Hancock Assembly of God; three daughters, Vicki and husband, Lee Himes, of Hancock, Kim and husband, Gary Keefer, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Kay and husband, Jeff Hixon, of Needmore, Pa.; five sisters, Mary Burgman of Hagerstown, Martha Johnson of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., Esther Bellos of Martinez, Ga., Ruth Myers of Fairplay, Md., and Rebecca McDowell of Chambersburg, Pa.; two brothers, Jonathan Schetrompf of Johnstown, Pa., and David Schetrompf of Mercersburg, Pa.; five half sisters, Cathy Compton of Grey, Tenn., Cindy LaFollette and Sherry Sheets, both of Johnson City, Tenn., Brenda Hall of Mount Home, Tenn., and Debbie Stines of Hildebrand, N.C.; one half brother, Steve Schetrom of Fisher, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Gary Leslie, Kevin and Lynette Keefer, Jessica, Lyndsay and Jaden Himes; and one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Keefer. He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna B. Keefer; one brother, Paul Schetrompf; and one grandson.

A service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hancock Assembly of God Church. The Revs. Duane A. Jensen and Charles Foshee will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Hancock Assembly of God Church, Pennsylvania Avenue, Hancock, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The church will be open from 2 to 9 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association, c/o Jack Strait, 1311 Mountain Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267.

Evelyn E. Larson, 89

APRIL 3, 1915-SEPT. 17, 2004

QUINCY, Pa. - Evelyn E. Larson, 89, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of Sandy Mount Road in Orrstown, Pa., died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at the home.

Born April 3, 1915, in Adair, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Clark and Frosie Livingston Rosenberry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer D. Larson, in 1987.

She was a former employee of Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa.
