Myrna L. Lightfoot, 68

JULY 14, 1936-SEPT. 16, 2004

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Myrna L. Lightfoot, 68, of Manorcare Health Service, and formerly of 932 Fox Meadow Road, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the nursing home.

Born July 14, 1936, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ennis and Marie Sprankle Zimmerman.

She was a graduate of Washington Township (Pa.) High School.

She had been employed by Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg.

She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jay E. Lightfoot; two sons, Robert L. Lightfoot of Waynesboro and Michael T. Lightfoot of Chambersburg; two sisters, Joann McCoy of Fayetteville, Pa., and Cathy Wetzel of Chambersburg; one brother, Steve Zimmerman of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Zimmerman.

Services will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg. The Rev. Rodrigo Arrazola will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.


Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

The Rev. Worthington Campbell Jr.

Due to a family emergency, the memorial service for the Rev. Worthington Campbell Jr., 82, of Williamsport, that was to be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown has been postponed. New arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown.

Clyde L. Shafer, 61

OCT. 14, 1942-SEPT. 16, 2004

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Mr. Clyde "Skip" Leslie Shafer, 61, of Middletown, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at his residence. He was the husband of Robyn L. Beaver Shafer, his wife of 26 years.

Born Oct. 14, 1942, in Middletown, he was a son of the late F. Davis and Helen Virginia Wachtel Shafer. Mr. Shafer was a 1960 graduate of Middletown High School; and served with the U.S. Army Reserve, 558th Signal Co., Frederick, Md. He was a career barber in Frederick County, Md., and in early years owned and operated Prospect Barbershop in Frederick; and later Skip's Barbershop in Jefferson, Md.

He was a member of Christ Reformed Church, Middletown, a life member of AMVETS Post 9, Middletown; the American Legion Boonsboro, the Loyal Order of Moose Brunswick and the Big Oak Lodge, Middletown.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Stephanie McClure Mekkelson and husband Scott, of Middletown, Denise Lynn Sigler and husband Donald, of Williamsport, and Brad Wilson of Roanoke, Va.; five grandchildren, Alex, Trevor, Jessica, Branin and Bryant; four siblings, John S. Sigler and wife, Bette, of Frederick, Sue Shafer Sine and husband, Doug, of Walkersville, Md., Richard W. Shafer, and Karen V. Koogle and husband, Larry, all of Middletown; mother-in-law, Jean Beaver of Smithsburg; sisters-in-law, Barbara Vaughn and husband Tom, of Smithsburg, Sylvia Eichelberger and husband Leonard, of Hagerstown; brothers-in-law, Sam Beaver and wife Debbie, of Boonsboro, Dean Beaver and wife Edwina, of Smithsburg; and one aunt, Gertrude Shafer Brown, of Williamsport.

He also is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including dear family friend, Audrey "Itch" Cox, of Middletown.

He was preceded in death by a brother, F. Davis Shafer II and father-in-law, Floyd Beaver.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The family also will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of memorial services at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, at Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, 12 S. Church St., Middletown. His pastor, the Rev. Mark A. Wakefield, will officiate. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Hospice of Frederick County Inc, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702-1799.

William T. Hemsley III, 72

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - William Tilghman Hemsley III, 72, of 6378 Fairway Drive West died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at his home on the Wye River in Maryland.

Born March 31, 1932, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Tilghman Hemsley II and Jewel Magdalene LaDuca Hemsley.

He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a bachelor's degree in engineering. He earned a master's degree in engineering from Catholic University in Washington, DC., and a master's degree in planning from Penn State University in the late 1970s.

He served as president and chief owner of Nassaux Hemsley Inc. in Chambersburg.

He served in Korea with the Corps of Engineers.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

He was a member of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 of Chambersburg, Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 of Chambersburg, the 24th Infantry Division Society and the Civil Engineering Society.
