Twice a week, The Praise Singers take their bluegrass-infused Southern gospel music to nursing homes throughout Washington County.

"They're one of the favorite groups that come in," said Lori Love, activities coordinator at Clearview Nursing Home on Downsville Pike in Hagerstown. "You see their feet tapping and their hands clapping."

The all-volunteer musical group's old-time sounds seem to energize Clearview's elderly residents, Love said.

"Their quality of life improves for an hour," she said. "Those singers bring magic."

Here, in pictures, is a stanza of The Praise Singers' story.
