HANCOCK - A former Hancock town manager will again take on the duties while the Town Council searches for a permanent replacement for Larry Logan.

The Town Council voted unanimously at Wednesday's meeting to appoint Lou Close as interim town manager.

Logan gave notice of his resignation last month. He said he plans to travel with his wife, Donna.

He had been town manager since September 2002.

Close, a Berkeley Springs, W.Va., native, served as Hancock town manager from June 1994 through August 2002. Before that, he was a Hancock council member. He's lived in Hancock for about 30 years.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring with the rank of first sergeant. He owned the Triangle restaurant in Hancock for 13 years.

Mayor Daniel A. Murphy has said that Close was responsible for bringing $11 million to $12 million in grants to the town while he served as town manager.
