WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Eugene Horst, owner of Country Corner Meat Market at 10586 Buchanan Trail East, received final approval Wednesday to build Waynesboro Plaza LLC on a hillside between Old Mill Road and Iroquois Trail.

The Washington Township Supervisors voted unanimously to approve Horst's plans to build a two-story, 14,000-plus-square-foot building on the hilly site.

Horst has said he plans to move his meat market to the second floor of the new building with an entrance off Old Mill Road.

Horst's plans for his building also call for six commercial rental spaces on the first floor with an entrance road to be built off Iroquois Trail.

The motion to approve Horst's project was made by Supervisor Stewart McCleaf. He said Horst's project met all township land development plan regulations.

The project earlier received the blessings of the Washington Township Municipal Authority and the Franklin County Planning Commission. It was recommended for approval earlier by the Washington Township Planning Commission.

Horst's property already was zoned for commercial development.

Supervisor James W. Kirby seconded McCleaf's motion. The vote was taken without comment.

Horst said he wasn't ready to discuss possible future tenants when asked by the supervisors.
