Grant to help with trail connection

September 08, 2004

HANCOCK - A $64,000 state grant has been awarded to help pay for a better connection from the Western Maryland Rail Trail to Hancock's Main Street and community park, Gov. Robert Ehrlich's office said in a news release Tuesday.

The total cost of the trail connection will be $219,000.

The governor's office said a narrow dirt trail road will be paved.

The grant money is coming from the state's Transportation Enhancement Program, which is federal money administered by the Maryland State Highway Administration.

The Town of Hancock will match the state grant, the governor's office said.
