September 08, 2004

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A little more than $16,000 damage was caused to Mumaw Stadium when President Bush visited the Hedgesville High School football stadium for a rally last month, a school official said Tuesday night.

Part of the field's sprinkler system was crushed during the Aug. 17 rally, which attracted about 7,500 people, Superintendent of Schools Manny Arvon said at a Berkeley County Board of Education meeting.

Arvon said he has been told that the Republican National Committee will pay for the damage.
