Softball tryouts


The PA Xplosion girls 18U softball team is having tryouts for their Fall and Summer 2005 tournament team. Tryouts are held weekly. Girls ages 14-18 are eligible. Contact Dave Funk at 717-352-3403 for tryout times and locations.




The Diamond Force fast-pitch softball organization is having tryouts for the 2005 season Sept. 11 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the South Hamilton Ball Fields in Chambersburg, Pa. Tryouts are for the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U squads. The program is also looking for managers and coaches. Fall softball league


The Washington County Fall Softball League is seeking teams for the 2004 season. Games are played on Saturdays at Pinesburg Softball Complex. For more information, contact Mike Kelbaugh at 301-223-4556.




Slo-pitch tournaments


There will be a men's all-night tournament Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. at Clearbrook (Va.) Park. The tournament is bracket play with the top two teams from each bracket advancing to a single elimination draw. Entry fee is $150 and hit your own .47 core balls. T-shirts awarded to the winning team and team trophies given to first- and second-place finishers. The SSAA Northeastern Regional Championships will be held Sept. 11-12 in Mercersburg, Pa. The tournament is open to Class D and E teams from the Tri-State area.
