Hicks-Miller


Stanley and Velena Miller of Hagerstown announce the engagement of their son, Shane Miller, to Nicole Hicks, daughter of Carol Hicks of Millersville, Md., and the late Butch Hicks.

Ms. Hicks is a 1995 graduate of Severna Park High School and is a graduate of Shepherd College. She teaches fourth grade at St. Timothy's School in Baltimore County, Md., and works part-time at Banana Republic in Annapolis.

Mr. Miller is a 1991 graduate of South Hagerstown High School and the graphic arts program at Washington County Technical High School. He also is a graduate of Towson College. He is employed as an art teacher at Liberty High School in Carroll County, Md., works part-time at IKEA in White Marsh, Md., and also is employed part-time by Tons of Fun in Owings Mills, Md.

A summer 2006 wedding is planned.




Hume-Ziegler


Toni McAvoy Hume of Hagerstown and Marion Davis Ziegler III of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., announce their engagement.

Ms. Hume is a 1962 graduate of Bourne High School in Cape Cod, Mass. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1987. She was employed as a registered nurse at Washington County Hospital until her recent resignation.

Mr. Ziegler is the son of Marion Davis Ziegler Jr. of Mount Pleasant, S.C. He is a 1963 graduate of Bourne High School and received a bachelor of science degree from Excelsior College in 1989. He is employed as a systems engineer with Lockheed Martin Corp. in Virginia.

An Oct. 2 wedding is planned.




DeHaven-Burrell


JoyLynn DeHaven and David Paul Burrell announce their engagement.

Ms. DeHaven is the daughter of Dave and Patsy DeHaven of Hagerstown. She is a 1993 graduate of Williamsport High School and attended Hagerstown Business College. She is employed with Wal-Mart in Luray, Va.

Mr. Burrell is the son of the late James Burrell and the late Linda Ingram. He attended Harrisonburg (Va.) High School. He also is employed with Wal-Mart in Luray.

An Oct. 16 wedding is planned.
