Wal-Mart employee charged with theft

The woman was looking at some items on a sales rack and when she turned around, her cart containing her purse and a pair of pajamas was missing, police said.

The woman went to the customer service desk to see if anyone had turned the items in to a store employee, police said. The woman's daughter found the cart with the pajamas in it, but the purse was gone, police said.

After a review of the store's surveillance videotapes, it was discovered that another woman took the cart and pushed it to the front of the store, police said.

That woman was observed on video taking the woman's purse, walking past the customer service desk and out of the store, police said.

Cheeks has not been back to work since the that day, said Chief Deputy Jesse Jones.

Cheeks was arraigned Wednesday by Jefferson County Magistrate William Senseney, who set her bond at $1,000.

Cheeks was freed on bond.
