Part of W. Antietam St. to close briefly

September 02, 2004|by GREGORY T. SIMMONS

West Antietam Street between Burhans Boulevard and West Washington Street will be closed during the day today, and may be closed during the day for part of next week due to construction.

Assistant City Engineer James Bender said AT&T is laying fiber-optic cable in the street bed as part of an expansion of its cable system in Washington County.

That work also was part of the recent closure of West Antietam Street between Summit Avenue and Walnut Street. Bender said West Antietam Street between Burhans Boulevard and West Washington Street will be open this weekend and Labor Day, but if the work is not completed today, it will continue next Tuesday.
