Suns lose, 8-7

September 01, 2004

EASTLAKE, Ohio - Things have been going so badly for the Hagerstown Suns, it seems like they are inventing ways to lose.

On Tuesday, they seemed to have run out of ideas. So they repeated one.

Pitcher Ben Thurmond threw Juan Valdez's sacrifice bunt down the left-field line to allow Chris Clem to score from second in the bottom of the ninth, sending the Suns to an 8-7 loss at Lake County.

The Suns (20-44) came back from four runs down in the top of the ninth on Jonathan Armitage's grand slam.

On Monday, the Suns came from behind only to lose 4-3 to Lakewood in 10 innings. In that game, reliever Tim Alvarez fired the BlueClaws' Tim Moss' bunt into left field to allow Josh Mader to score the winning run.

Suns starter Jesse Floyd allowed six run in his five innings of work.

The Suns, who committed four errors, lost their sixth straight game and fell to 20-44 in the second half.
