Pauley to address adult women's issues

August 30, 2004

Monday, Aug. 30

Starting at 9 a.m.

The Republican National Convention

MSNBC promises all-day coverage, but expect plenty of other news, since there is no suspense involving the renominations of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. As was the case when the Democrats met last month, PBS may be the best choice for uninterrupted coverage in prime time. ABC, CBS and NBC won't start until Tuesday at 10 p.m.

11 a.m. in syndication

"The Jane Pauley Show"

After 27 years on NBC, Pauley is one of TV's most familiar faces, which should give her an advantage in the talk-show wars. Her new program will stress "issues of importance to adult women." Though not a network program, it comes from NBC Studios.

11 a.m. on USA

U.S. Open Tennis

The annual marathon in New York gets under way again, and once again USA is devoting much of its weekday schedule to the event. Announcers include former tennis stars John McEnroe, Tracy Austin and Jim Courier. On weekends, coverage switches to CBS.

This new reality series has eight couples competing to see who can best renovate a unit in a seaside apartment building. The winners get to keep the profits from the sale of all four units that will be fixed up.
