Sun setting on Suns

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Hagerstown Suns dropped a third straight game and now begin the final week of the year with eight games left after an 11-6 loss on Sunday to Lakewood.

The Suns (20-42) took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning on groundout RBIs by Patrick Dobson and Kyle Bone along with a Lexington throwing error.

Jonathan Armitage had an RBI double in the third to give the Suns a 4-0 lead. Lakewood eventually took a 6-4 lead with two runs in the fifth inning. Hagerstown fought back to a 6-6 tie on doubles by Jay Knowlton and Tim Hutting in the top of the sixth.

Lakewood took the lead for good with a two-run sixth against Suns reliever Daniel Porterreal, the losing pitcher.

The Suns finish the series tonight in Lakewood and travel to Lake County Tuesday and Wednesday before returning for their last two home games Thursday and Friday against Lake County.

The season ends with road games Saturday and Sunday at Lexington.
