Hagerstown man faces drug charges
FREDERICK, Md. - A Hagerstown man was arrested on federal drug charges in Frederick, Thursday, the Frederick Police Department said.
Altimont M. Wilks, 33, of 36 N. Potomac St., was charged with possession of and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, wear/transport handgun on person, wear/transport handgun in vehicle, felon in possession of a handgun, possession of body armor by individual convicted of drug trafficking offense, possession of body armor by individual convicted of a crime of violence and possession of a firearm with a removed serial number, police said.
Police said Wilks was taken into custody during a traffic stop at about 6:04 p.m. on North Court and West Second streets, after it was confirmed that he was wanted on a federal warrant. Police allege a loaded revolver, large quantity of cocaine, bullet-proof vest and about $1,000 in cash were among the items found during a search of his vehicle.
