Suns go 12 innings to defeat Captains

August 26, 2004

Tim Hutting's single with one out in the 12th inning scored Aaron Hornostaj from second, giving the Hagerstown Suns a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Lake County Captains on Wednesday night.

The victory was the fourth in five games for Hagerstown, which had won three straight before a loss on Tuesday.

Lake County reliever Adam Hanson (3-6) came in in the ninth and worked three scoreless innings to get to the 12th, but the Suns caught up when Hanson possibly wore down.

Hanson walked Hornostaj to lead off the inning, and after striking out Kyle Bone, Hanson hit Jason Schmidt with a pitch to bring up Hutting, who singled to right to end it.

The Captains took a 2-0 lead in the second on RBI singles by Micah Schilling and Clayton McCullough.

Hagerstown tied it in the third on Schmidt's two-run single, scoring Pat Dobson and Hornostaj, both of whom singled earlier in the inning.
