Little League leader is Citizen of Month

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday named the president of Conococheague Little League the Citizen of the Month for August.

Walter Williams of Williamsport received the proclamation at a County Commissioners meeting. Commissioners President Gregory I. Snook presented Williams with the award.

Williams recently helped out with hosting the State Little League Championship Tournament in Williamsport, which brought players, their families and friends to Washington County from throughout Maryland, according to information included with the commissioners' meeting agenda.

"In addition, Mr. Williams had shown his devotion to the people of Williamsport in a manner above and beyond the regular activities of citizenship," according to the information. "Last November, Mr. Williams saved the life of a Williamsport citizen in Byron Park."


Snook said he's been friends with Williams for a long time and that they used to work together.

Two reappointed to Airport Commission

Two people were reappointed to the Airport Advisory Commission Tuesday.

The Washington County Commissioners reappointed Thomas Henderson and Harry Reynolds to second three-year terms.

Reeder reappointed to Ag Center board

James Reeder was reappointed to the Agricultural Education Center Board of Directors on Tuesday.

The Washington County Commissioners reappointed Reeder to a second three-year term.
