"Summer Under the Stars"

Women are well represented in this monthlong festival, and today it's Shirley MacLaine's turn in the spotlight. The first film, "Two Loves," may be nobody's favorite, but things improve at 8 a.m. with "Some Came Running" (1959, with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin). And worth catching at 8 p.m. is MacLaine's 1955 debut in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Trouble With Harry," also starring Edmund Gwenn and John Forsythe.

8 p.m. on PBS

"The Hidden Art of Hollywood"

They may not be household names in the world at large, but top production designers are among the elite artists in Hollywood. This new documentary includes scenes from famous films - such as "Citizen Kane," where a limited budget was a factor in the design - and interviews with designers - including Dean Tavoularis ("The Godfather") and Wynn Thomas ("Do the Right Thing").
