Mail Call

August 24, 2004

"These people are upset about their animals being poisoned, but if they would start keeping their animals inside and keeping them quiet and on a leash, maybe this wouldn't happen."

"I just wanted to tell the people who stopped by my yard sale and just walked off with several things, like my bow and arrow, thanks a lot. You didn't even pay for it. Also, I saw the lady take the basket, too. Thanks a bunch."

"I am sitting here reading Mail Call and someone said yield means proceed with caution, not to stop. Well, I have news for you. Yield means proceed with caution and be prepared to stop if necessary. Read your driver's manual. Years ago, when the manual was made, that was the law. That is the way we were brought up. Be prepared to stop if necessary."

"Hats off to manager Ritchie and his coaching staff of the Maugansville 7-8-year-old All- Star team. Good teaching, girls, for encouraging the kids to be kids and just have fun. Thanks."

"To the person who believes that yield means never stop, you better read your driver's manual. Because if you are coming out of an exit, and there is no break in traffic, then you better stop, because if not, there will be a wreck."

"Have you ever been to one of those all-you-can-eat buffets for a fairly cheap price, then sometimes you hear people complaining about how much it costs? We go out to eat a lot and we have seen where people order extra drinks and let them sit. They will go back and get big plates of things and then end up letting them sit on the table also. So is it any wonder why prices are so high?"

"I am a Democrat but I can't support John Kerry because when I saw him with Jane it made me sick on my stomach. Those people who prolonged the Vietnam War, who made our boys feel like they had done something wrong when they came back from fighting for our country. I can't stand those kind of people and Kerry was one of those people."

"When you are out on the interstate, you can't always slow up and move out of the way of a car coming off an exit."

"The recipe for the 44321 cookies is: Take two cups of sugar, one-fourth cup of butter, four tablespoons of cocoa, half-cup of milk, boil in pan for one minute, remove from heat, stir in two cups of oatmeal and a half-cup of peanut butter with one teaspoon of vanilla. Drop it by teaspoons on wax paper."

"I didn't realize that we were still fighting the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War has been over for 30 years. We aren't fighting World War II either, nor are we fighting any other previous war. Terrorism is the only problem we are fighting now."

"I am responding to the article about Kerry's Vietnam record. He was only there for four-and-a-half months. How can someone do so much and know so many people in such a short time?"

"Way to go, Jack Griffith, in your response to the ridiculous remarks made by Allan Powell."
