August 20, 2004

The newly formed Western Maryland Junior Football Association - comprised of the Washington County Junior Football League and the Cumberland Area Youth Football League - will hold its first Fall Kickoff Classic at Hancock High School on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The event will feature two games, with teams from the Washington County league facing teams from Cumberland.

The first game pits the Washington County champion Williamsport Bears against Cumberland's Personal Best Patriots. The second game features the Hagerstown Packers against the Braddock Warriors.

Drill teams and cheerleaders from both teams will also perform throughout the event.

The Western Maryland Junior Football Association has a total of 31 teams, with the goal of teaching young players the fundamentals of football and promoting sportsmanship and fair play while preparing the athletes for high school competition.
