August 20, 2004

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Scott O'Grady, the U.S. Air Force captain who evaded capture for six days after being shot down over Bosnia in 1995, will be the featured speaker today at a Republican National Committee Veterans Outreach rally in support of President Bush's re-election campaign.

The rally will be held at 5 p.m. in the Orchard Restaurant, 1580 Orchard Drive, according to Bob Thomas, the chairman of Franklin County for President Bush.

Capt. O'Grady was flying an F-16 to enforce a no-fly zone over Bosnia when his jet fighter plane was shot down by an antiaircraft missile on June 2, 1995. He evaded captured for six days until he was rescued by U.S. Marines.

O'Grady is the author of "Return With Honor," his account of his evasion and rescue.
