Youth flag football
Registration is open for CSL Flag Football. The program is open to boys ages 10-14 and offers instruction from knowledgable coaches and a seven-week competition schedule. The Waynesboro YMCA will hold a seven-week flag football program beginning Sept. 11 for boys and girls from age 6 through eighth grade. C&O Canal 5-Mile Run
The 23rd annual Gary Brown Memorial C&O Canal 5-Mile Run is set for Aug. 28 in Williamsport. The race begins and ends at Riverbottom Park, adjacent to the C&O Canal. The course is out-and-back on the canal's flat, dirt towpath. All finishers will receive an official "finisher" T-shirt. Awards will be given to the top overall and age-group performers. Hunter safety course
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Woodmont Chapter of the Izaak Walton League are offering a hunter safety class Aug. 25-26 from 6-9 p.m. and Aug. 28 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Pre-registration and a $5 nonrefundable fee is required before Aug. 20 and kids under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
