Skateboarders blamed for damage

August 17, 2004|by PEPPER BALLARD

FUNKSTOWN - Funkstown resident Jeff Doarnberger complained to the mayor and Town Council on Monday about skateboarders he said have damaged property at his home and in his neighborhood lately.

"I know boys have got to be boys ...," he said. "But it's costing me money that I don't have to have it fixed."

Town Council Member Richard Nigh suggested that the town add an ordinance related to skateboards, but no decision was made Monday.

Doarnberger also complained about drivers running stop signs at the corner of Antietam and Poplar streets.

Town Council Member John Phillips said he has noticed more Maryland State Police troopers and Washington County Sheriff's Department deputies patrolling the area and thanked them for it.
