Fishing boat among items reported stolen

A bass fishing boat and a container with $800 in change were among the items reported stolen since Friday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department:

  • At 6 p.m .Friday, a headlight assembly was reported stolen from a Toyota Tacoma pickup at the Interstate 70/U.S. 40 park 'n ride on U.S. 40.

  • At 3 a.m. Saturday, a 21-foot black and white bass boat and trailer worth $33,000 were reported stolen from a residence in the 13400 block of Maugansville Road.

  • At 9 a.m. Saturday, a gas-powered scooter worth $500 was reported stolen from a porch in the 13800 block of Weaver Avenue in Maugansville.

  • At 7:30 a.m. Saturday, a purse containing $90 in cash, several credit cards and miscellaneous items was reported stolen from a home that had been broken into in the first block of North Main Street in Keedysville.

  • At 8 a.m. Saturday, a pair of sunglasses was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 13100 block of Blue Ridge Road.

  • At 8:30 p.m. Sunday, a five-gallon container containing $800 in change was reported stolen from inside a residence in the first block of West Maple Street in Funkstown.

Driver injured in three-vehicle crash

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - One driver was injured Sunday in a three-vehicle accident on Buchanan Trail West in Antrim Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.


Brandi L. Draper, 17, address unavailable, of Greencastle was treated at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police said Draper was driving east at 10:36 p.m. when she lost control of a 1995 Honda Accord as she approached traffic that was stopped for a turning vehicle. Police said the car struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Michael R. Garrison, 42, of Frederick, Md., then hit an embankment, flipped over and hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Catherine M. Buterbaugh, 63, of Mercersburg, Pa.

Riding mower stolen from playhouse shed

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - A riding mower was stolen from a shed at the Totem Pole Playhouse at 9555 Golf Course Road over the weekend, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said a padlock was removed from the shed and the White brand mower taken between 2 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Cash and quarters stolen from Pa. home

MONT ALTO, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police were investigating the theft of $530 in cash and quarters from a borough home Wednesday.

Police said the money was reported missing at 10:30 a.m. It was taken from a bedroom of the home on the 200 block of Main Street, police said.

Man found sleeping in vehicle charged

CHAMBERSBURG Pa. - A borough man was charged with driving under the influence after he was found asleep in a vehicle at the intersection of Queen and Third streets Sunday morning, Chambersburg police said.

Fidencio Velazco-Cabrera, 20, of 213 S. Main St., Apt. C, was asleep across the front seats of the vehicle with his feet hanging out the driver's door when police arrived at 5:05 p.m., police said.

Adults, one juvenile charged in credit theft

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Borough police charged four adults and a juvenile with stealing credit cards and other items from parked vehicles on July 23-24.

Police said Alex Torres, 19, and Akiyia Dooley, 23, both of 9 W. Washington St., Jason Torres, 20, and Eduardo Caceres, 21, both of 242 Larch Ave., and a 15-year-old juvenile were charged with theft, access device fraud, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property. Alex Torres also was charged with unsworn falsification and false reports to law enforcement, police said.

Police said the credits cards stolen from the vehicles of five victims were used to make purchases at various stores in the area.

Frederick residents face drug charges

FREDERICK, Md. - Two Frederick residents were arrested on drug charges Monday after a city landlord asked for police assistance during an apartment inspection, the Frederick Police Department said.

Tara Main, 22, and Mike Robinson, 26, both of 9806 Liberty Road, were charged with one count each of possession of crack cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police allege Main and Robinson were found inside 1510 Rosemont Ave. along with drug paraphernalia partially filled with drug residue and a hunting rifle Monday at about 4 p.m.

Police said they were not authorized tenants.
