Suns drop 9th in row

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Yunir Garcia broke a 3-3 tie with a solo home run in the fourth inning and Capital City kept Hagerstown reeling as the Bombers beat the Suns 5-3 on Monday night.

The loss is the ninth straight for the Suns (15-35 second half, 43-74 overall), who fall to 0-6 on their currect road trip.

Hagerstown struck early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first. Jay Knowlton and Tim Hutting singled to start things and Capital City starter Greg Ramirez hit Jesse Schmidt with a pitch to load the bases with no outs. Two strikeouts later, Jason Columbus doubled to score Knowlton and Hutting.

The Bombers got a run back on Shawn Bowman's RBI double in the bottom of the first and took a 3-2 lead on Blake Whealy's two-run homer in the third. Whealy finished with three hits, including another homer in the eighth.

Pat Dobson homered in the top of the fourth to pull the Suns even at 3-3.

Jose Gomez (1-1) worked three scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, striking out five. Suns starter Ryan Sadowski (2-8) gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings for the loss.
