M&T Bank


Christopher B. Bolton recently joined M&T Bank as vice president of business and professional banking.

Bolton most recently was employed for 13 years as assistant vice president of commercial banking with Farmers & Merchants Bank and Trust. He has more than 18 years of experience in commercial and retail banking.

Bolton received a bachelor's degree in administration of justice from The University of Baltimore and an MBA from Frostburg State University. He also is a graduate of the Maryland Banking School.

Barry P. Ronan recently was appointed to the board of directors of Farmers & Merchants Bank and Trust.

Ronan currently is president and chief executive officer of Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland, Md. Prior to that, he was president of CEO of Memorial Hospital in Cumberland.

Ronan also worked for seven years in management and administration at Presbyterian-University Hospital and three years as assistant vice president of operations for Allegheny General Hospital, both in Pittsburgh.

Ronan received a master's degree in public administration from the University of Pittsburgh and serves on the Maryland Hospital Association's Council on Legislative and Regulatory Policy, which he previously chaired.

Convention and Visitors Bureau


Betsy De Vore has been promoted to director of sales for the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

De Vore joined the Convention and Visitors Bureau in 2002. She worked for many years in hotel and restaurant management on Martha's Vineyard. She also spent five years working for Coakley and Williams Inc. in hotel management, and spent several years providing meeting and convention sales support services.

De Vore holds a bachelor of arts degree from Edinboro (Pa.) University.

Board of Social Services


Two people recently were appointed to the Washington County Board of Social Services.

- Ellen Robertson Hayes is principal at Salem Avenue Elementary School.

Hayes has been employed by the Washington County Board of Education since 1974. She previously was principal at Winter Street Elementary School, and elementary supervisor of mathematics and science. She also held teaching positions at Western Heights and Springfield middle schools.

- Roland F. Smith is the retired president and chief executive officer of the Jamison Door Co.

Smith worked with the Jamison Door Co. from 1979 to 1996. He served on the Washington County Hospital Board of Trustees from 1985 to 1997 and was board chairman from 1993 to 1994. He currently serves on the Hospital Endowment Fund Board.

Molly Middlebrook has been appointed director of the Benjamin Art Gallery.

Diane Rowe Caprio


Diane Rowe Caprio has opened an accounting, payroll and tax office at 82 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown.

Caprio's office will offer services to individuals and small businesses in the Tri-State area.

Caprio is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents and the Maryland Society of Accountants Inc.

Washington County Health Department


Shawn Stoner has been selected Employee of the Month for August at the Washington County Health Department.

Stoner, who has been employed with the department since August 1989, is an administrative specialist with the Cigarette Restitution Fund. She is coordinator of the activities for programs dealing with tobacco-related illnesses and colorectal cancer.

Maryland Correctional Training Center


John Dawson, a correctional officer at the Maryland Correctional Training Center, was selected the center's Employee of the Month for August.

Tastefully Simple


Tina Green of Hagerstown was promoted to senior team manager by Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct sales company based in Alexandria, Minn.

Allegheny Energy


GREENSBURG, Pa. -Edward Dudzinski recently was hired as vice president of human resources for Allegheny Energy.

Dudzinski comes to Allegheny Energy from DuPont, where he spent 14 years in a variety of human resources positions in the United States and Europe. Prior to that, he spent 15 years with Consolidation Coal Co.

Dudzinski holds a bachelor of science degree from California State University.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The following people recently were hired as sales associates at Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA's offices in Franklin County.

- Chuck Kipe Jr. has joined the Jack Gaughen's office in Greencastle, Pa.

Kipe attended prelicensing courses at The Institute of Real Estate Studies in Waynesboro. He previously worked as a plant manager.

- Renee Kennedy has joined Jack Gaughen's Waynesboro office.

Kennedy attended prelicensing courses at The Institute of Real Estate Studies. She is a certified business computer applications specialist.

- Wanetta Wible has joined Jack Gaughen's Waynesboro office.

Wible attended prelicensing courses at The Institute of Real Estate Studies. She previously worked for 30 years in area nursing homes as a licensed practical nurse.

FREDERICK, Md. - Karen L. May recently joined the staff of Ellin & Tucker, Chartered, as a principal in the Business Valuation and Litigation Services Group.

May has more than 18 years of relevant analytical experience in financial analysis. May has been court-appointed by courts in Washington County, the State of West Virginia and U.S. District Court. She also has served as an expert witness or consultant in a range of litigation matters.

May holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from Shippensburg (Pa.) University and a master of taxation degree from Georgetown University.
