Mail Call

August 14, 2004

"I think it's terrible that the DNR and the SPCA are keeping that woman's raccoon. Neither of these groups seem interested in preserving life. If the owners want to get a group together to go out and protest this, I will be more than happy to join you."

"Concerning the raccoon: Humane Society, give the woman back her raccoon. My lord, she has had it for 13 years. It's like one of her children. It's bad enough that there are a lot of unwanted cats and dogs in this town. I am fighting for you."

"Today, I want to thank all the doctors and nurses who took real good care of me in CCU and the seventh floor, too. Dr. Hidaburg, Dr. Hood, Dr. Baran. When you are afraid of what's going on, these doctors sure were kind and caring and helped a lot. So very nice all of you were to me. Thanks and God bless all of you. To RN Wendy and RN Becky on CCU, your kindness will not be forgotten. Thanks for being so kind and nice to me. Too many assistants to name, but God bless everyone of you."

"Concerning the Humane Society and the woman's raccoon. Come on, let the woman have her raccoon. Where is the freedom of justice around here? Let her have her raccoon."

"This woman had that raccoon since it was baby. It is tame. She had it for 13 years and nobody has ever complained about it. What is the difference now? Why would it matter if she had it now?"

"Concerning the raccoon, how would you like to have your child taken after raising it for 13 years? Same difference here with the raccoon. That raccoon is that woman's child."

"Isn't it against the law to obtain money from juveniles on a liquor store parking lot, go inside, buy the liquor and give the liquor to the children in the car? I thought it was against the law to provide alcohol to minors, no matter how it's done. This has been seen done numerous times."

"NBC anchorman Tom Brokaw wrote a book describing the World War II generation of American families as 'The Greatest Generation.' Today in Wednesday's Daily Mail, I see a photo of the seniors at a local high school in the 1950s, all the girls have long skirts, bobby socks, they look like real ladies, like their mothers brought them up to be. It's time for us to have another great generation, don't you think?"

"People, be aware of the yellow peaches that are out right now. I bought a bushel of them at a local fruit stand. I can't even get one off the seed. They tear up in your hand, so you are going to have to make jam if you aren't careful."

"This is in reference to the article in the paper about the raccoon. If that was me, I would be very upset if they didn't give it back. It would be like taking my child away from me. It's not like she was going to kill it and eat it."

"I am calling about the story of the raccoon, where DNR and the Humane Society won't give her a permit. That is wrong. The DNR and the Humane Society are very unprofessional, especially the DNR. They don't take care of their own business and now they want to bother a lady who wasn't bothering a soul and neither was her animal. When were you ever worried about following rules before? Give the raccoon back."

"I was just reading in the Williamsport section of the paper and they were talking about the pool problems with the children's feet getting cut. Their feet get cut when they are in the pool. It's the surface of the pool that they are having problems with. It's not from walking around the pool."

"There are 1.1 million fewer jobs in America now than when Bush took office, with the economy needing to produce a quarter of a million jobs a month just to keep up with people entering the job market for the first time. The numbers just don't add up. Bush says the economy is on the rebound and that he has done a great job and his tax cuts are the reason. It's a lie, the economy is not getting better, wages aren't keeping up with inflation. Bush has done a miserable job. He was willing to take credit when it looked good, but takes no credit when it starts going downhill. It's time to throw Bush out and repeal the tax cuts for the wealthy Americans."

"In Mail Call the other day someone asked how to get mustard out of the carpet. All you do is buy a can of stuff for carpets called Spot. I got it at Sam's Club. Spray it on as thick as you can and leave it on there overnight. Shampoo it the next day and it will come out with no problem at all. "

"I would like to thank the young lady and man who helped me at the Dollar Tree off Eastern Boulevard. I stepped into a hole in the pavement, I fell and they quickly stopped their vehicle and helped me up. I didn't get your name, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart."

"To the person who called about the mustard in their carpet. Stainsolver.com, I bought four big two quart containers for $20, which includes shipping and handling. I had wine on a white blouse and it got it out."

"To the person with mustard in their carpet. I found Oxy Deep, spray-on carpet cleaner by Woolite. I found it to be excellent for stains. Good luck."
